A good podcast clip is a small complete thought. It gives enough context, makes a point and reaches a payoff. Starting on an exciting phrase can fail if the phrase depends on a question the viewer never heard.
Use the original podcast script in the resource kit or a conversation you have permission to edit. Listen for the claim and the qualification. Our example says that a simple filming routine helps consistency, while acknowledging that some projects need more preparation. Keep that qualification if removing it would change the advice.
In a two-person recording, frame the relevant speaker without cutting away so quickly that reactions become distracting. Captions should identify the words, while a short opening title can state the topic. Avoid generated reaction shots presented as real responses. A pause, a nod or a slight hold can carry useful meaning.
